Harlow Glass has installed an internal bespoke glass screen as part of an upgrade to 5 Savile Row. The screen included mesh encapsulated laminated glass in a nod to the heritage of Savile Row. The same glass was also used as feature wall panels around the reception. A new entrance screen with access controlled door completed the installation.
To meet the original design intent Harlow Glass utilised BIM software. This allowed the support and fabrication of the screen to be visualised. The benefits of this were felt in both approval and installation time. The frame finish was then applied to match other metalwork around the project. A range of metal wire mesh samples were presented to the design team for approval. The chosen material was then encapsulated into the interlayer of a laminated glass panel. Finally laser cut aluminium text was bonded to the surface of the glass. The same glass was then combined with a mirror backing to provide wall mounted panels. These were used in other locations including as the main reception signage board.
To the main entrance, a new glazed screen with pivot door was installed. This screen was designed to maximise the amount of visible glass. Full design calculations were completed by Harlow Glass to ensure the design met the required loadings. The same finish used on the internal metalwork was then applied to the frame and door. Full access control was integrated into the door and connected to the main building systems.
