Products – Glass Extension, Architectural Glass
Project Type – Residential
Location – London
Main Contractor – LA Metalworks
As part of a steel framed glass extension Harlow Glass completed the design development, fabrication and installation of frameless glass wall and roof panels. The project required full design development utilising BIM software. This allowed visualisation of junctions between glass and steel. A fully frameless system was used to meet the design intent. Stainless steel spider fittings were fixed to the primary steel structure. Glass panels were then installed to form the walls and roof of the stair enclosure. Full structural analysis of the glass and fittings was undertaken by Harlow Glass for the project.
A main design feature was a depleting barcode patten across the lift shaft. This design was achieved through use of printed interlayers to the laminated panels. The design was detailed using CAD software taken from the BIM model. The pattern achieves tight spacing of 10mm to provide a striking effect. Other bespoke features on the installation included a fully glazed entrance door installed to match the frameless wall panels. This was connected to the main building access control.
Harlow Glass also provided glass panels to all glass balustrades on the project on a supply only basis to the steel sub-contractor.
