Harlow Glass has installed bespoke reeded glass screens to the new Universal Music headquarters in London Kings Cross. The design style varies across each floor, but each area has large open plan spaces. To split these spaces from each other and communal areas tailored screens were developed from the original design intent.
The screen utilise steel channels to form a sectional perimeter frame. This allowed the frames to be moved through the building and be assembled in-situ. Purpose made head brackets were fixed to the head of these frames. These utilised a slotted connection to pivot the screens into position. Laminated reeded glass panels were then installed into the final frames. The panel dimensions of the original design were oversize for standard reeded glass sheets. To solve this issue two panels were laminated together for each section. Industrial banding was then bonded over the joints to hide the junctions and make the panels appear continuous.
Clear glass versions of the screens were also installed on certain levels of the building. The design allowed for a range of configurations including angled junctions. The project also included internal glass balustrades installed around office stage areas.
